Jennifer Adighije
Jennifer Adighije is a distinguished Nigerian engineer and entrepreneur with a career spanning nearly two decades across both private and public sectors. Born on April 15, 1982, in Lagos, Nigeria, she exhibited a passion for fashion and craftsmanship from an early age, often designing clothes for her dolls using premium fabrics she purchased with her pocket money.
Adighije pursued higher education in engineering, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nigeria. She furthered her studies with a master’s degree in Telecommunications from the University of London. During her time in London, she gained practical experience in the fashion industry by working at a high-street clothing store, where she advanced from sales attendant to store supervisor.
In 2008, upon returning to Nigeria, Adighije founded House of Silk (HOS), initially a fabric retail company that evolved into a bespoke dressmaking brand. HOS offers two distinct lines: the upscale luxury label and Abada Couture, which features African prints. The brand is renowned for its sophisticated designs that blend traditional African aesthetics with contemporary fashion.
Adighije’s engineering expertise has also been recognized in the public sector. She was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), becoming the first woman to lead the organization. Her tenure at NDPHC underscores her versatility and leadership capabilities in both engineering and entrepreneurial ventures.
Throughout her multifaceted career, Jennifer Adighije has demonstrated a unique blend of technical proficiency and creative vision, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s engineering and fashion industries.
