Ireti Heebah Kingibe, a distinguished civil engineer and esteemed politician, has made significant strides in both her professional and political endeavors, embodying a commitment to public service and community development.

Her educational journey began at Emotan Preparatory School and continued through Queen’s College Lagos and Washington Irving High School. She later pursued a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota, laying a solid foundation for her future career.

With her academic credentials in hand, Kingibe embarked on a fruitful career in engineering, starting as a Quality Control Engineer and later assuming roles of increasing responsibility both in Nigeria and abroad. She worked with esteemed organizations such as Bradley Precast Concrete Inc., the Minnesota Department of Transportation Design unit, and the Nigerian Air Force base in Ikeja. Her expertise in planning and engineering earned her recognition as a regional engineer for Lodigiani Nigeria Limited Lagos.

In the political arena, Kingibe’s journey began in 1990 when she was appointed as an Adviser to the National Chairman of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP). Demonstrating her dedication to grassroots development, she later joined the Labour Party. In the 2023 Nigerian Senate elections, she successfully contested the FCT Senatorial seat under the Labour party, winning with a promise to allocate her basic salary to address infrastructural deficits in rural communities within the nation’s capital.

As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs in the 10th Senate, Kingibe continues to champion the rights and welfare of women, showcasing her commitment to gender equality and empowerment.
