Oluwafunke Adeoye is a Lawyer and Social Entrepreneur with over a decade of experience working on criminal justice reforms and promoting access to justice for vulnerable women, children and awaiting trial prisoners. She holds a law degree from the University of Benin, Nigeria and is a Commonwealth Scholar studying International Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford.

Funke is the Founder of Hope Behind Bars Africa, an organisation that is closing Nigeria’s justice and reformatory gap, using strategic legal support, vocational interventions, advocacy and technology. Its Inside-out Hub caters to the rehabilitation, reformation and reintegration needs of incarcerated individuals.

Since 2019, Funke has been an expert respondent for the World Justice Project Rule of Law Index. She has also served as an international trainer for Cornell University Centre on Death Penalty, Justice Project Pakistan, the World Coalition against Death Penalty amongst others.

She has a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Lagos Business School and in Civic Engagement from the University of Georgia. She is also an Associate Member of WIMBIZ. Her work has earned her several international fellowships and recognitions including; Mandela Washington Fellowship, Acumen West Africa Fellowship and recently Ashoka Fellowship.

Funke was winner of the $75,000 Waislitz Global Citizens’ Choice Award in 2023. She was listed by The Attic London as part of the Top 50 Lawyers Changing the World for Better.
