Olanike Nafisat Balogun
Olanike Nafisat Balogun is a trailblazing aviator and Deputy Superintendent of Customs, recognized as the first female pilot in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). Her historic achievement marks a significant milestone in both the aviation and security sectors, inspiring women to break barriers and pursue their dreams in male-dominated fields.
Born in Kaduna and originally from Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, Balogun’s journey in aviation began in 2002 when she was recruited as a Customs Assistant to serve as a cabin crew member in the NCS Airwing Unit. Her passion and dedication propelled her forward, leading her to attain an Advanced Diploma in Air Ticketing and Cabin Services and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University. She later earned her Pilot Certification from the Flying Academy in Miami, Florida, a milestone made possible through sponsorship from the NCS.
As the first female pilot in the NCS Airwing, Balogun’s success serves as a beacon of hope for women in aviation and law enforcement. Her perseverance, skill, and commitment to excellence continue to pave the way for future generations of women aspiring to make history in their respective fields.
