Hadiza Oyewumi is an accomplished public relations professional, wife and mother with two decades of experience across the television and banking space. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the prestigious Bayero University, Kano and Masters in Business Administration from the Netherlands Business School.

She began her Public Relations career in television, working with Africa Independent Television (AIT) in 2004 as Health Correspondent and News Editor before moving to Planet One as Sales and Marketing Manager in 2008. Due to her love for Public Relations, she found her way back to Television Continental in 2009 as the Presenter/Producer of This Morning. She made her mark in these 2 prominent TV Stations through her strong commitment to the best principles of broadcasting.

In November 2009 she joined the Bank of Industry (BOI) as a Banking Officer where she rose to become the Head Corporate Communications in 2014, a position she held till 2019. To meet the needs of the Bank’s growth in portfolio and balance sheet size, the Bank’s communication activities was restructured along regional lines (North and South) when she became Head, Corporate Communications South till June 2024. She is currently the Group Head Executive/Internal Communications and Customer Care.

In her role as Head Corporate Communications, she successfully managed BOI’s transition from a traditionally conservative financial institution to a more open, media-friendly and publicly accessible brand whilst improving the internal communications culture of the Bank, increasing staff engagement with reduction in the volume of external customers complaint.

As the Head Corporate Communications, she functioned as the chief image maker for Brand BOI, liaising with top management to determine the strategic direction for all BOI’s activities, providing direction and support. Hadiza oversaw the content creation, production and management of BOI’s weekly television programmes (BOI Impact and BOI Weekly). She collaborated with key industry stakeholders across government, media agencies, and relevant private sector organisations on behalf of the Bank.

In 2012, the Bank of Industry was in London for the Olympics to promote Nigeria’s local content, she played a pivotal role in the Bank’s activities in promoting Made in Nigeria goods and showcasing the vast investment opportunities available in the country.

Hadiza Oyewumi has dedicated herself to continuous learning and development that keeps her at the forefront of her career, in 2019 she had a training in Leadership Communication at the Harvard University Extension School, in 2017, Finance for Non-Financial Managers at the Smith School of Business, Queens University, Canada amongst other globally recognised trainings.

A respected member of several professional public relations associations, an Associate Member of both Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)and Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). Her contributions to her field of endeavour are widely recognized, and she is admired not only for her professional expertise but also her work which continues to inspire and set a benchmark for excellence in communications across industries.

Throughout her career Hadiza has led multiple high impact campaigns, implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance the institution’s image. She has mentored a number of young professionals through her leadership style which emphasizes team spirit, continuous learning, and an enabling environment that inspires all to reach their full potential.
