Rinsola Abiola
Rinsola Abiola is a Nigerian media entrepreneur, politician, and advocate for youth inclusion and gender equity. She is the daughter of the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, the acclaimed winner of Nigeria’s 1993 presidential election. Rinsola has carved her own path in public service and activism, focusing on empowering young people and women in the political arena.
Growing up without her father, who was detained and later died in custody following the annulled 1993 election, Rinsola faced unique challenges that shaped her resilience and commitment to social justice. She holds a degree in Statistics, which has contributed to her analytical approach in her various roles.
Rinsola’s political journey began in earnest in 2013 when she joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). She played a pivotal role in establishing the APC Young Women Forum (APC-YWF), serving as its secretary and later as President. In these positions, she focused on mentorship and capacity-building initiatives for young women aged 18-35 within the party.
Her dedication to youth and women’s participation in politics led to her appointment as the female youth representative on the APC Board of Trustees, making her the youngest member to hold such a position. Rinsola also served as the Special Assistant on New Media to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, where she leveraged digital platforms to enhance governmental transparency and citizen engagement.
Beyond her political engagements, Rinsola is a media entrepreneur. She owns a Public Relations and Corporate Events firm based in Abuja, Nigeria, through which she provides strategic communication services to various clients.
In 2022, Rinsola campaigned for the position of National Youth Leader of the APC, advocating for greater youth representation in the party’s leadership. Her campaign emphasized the need for inclusivity, particularly for young women in politics.
As of her latest public role, Rinsola serves as the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, where she continues her advocacy for youth and gender issues at the highest levels of government.
Rinsola Abiola’s career reflects a deep commitment to intellectual capacity, strategic engagement, and the empowerment of marginalized groups in Nigeria’s political landscape. Her efforts continue to inspire a new generation of leaders dedicated to equity and social progress.
